Meet our team – Claire Moon

Meet Claire, she is our Finance Manager based at our Birmingham Head Office.

How long have you been at Lander and what did you do before?

“I started in finance when I was about 18 at college, I worked my way up from the bottom, doing my qualifications alongside work. I started as an Assistant Accountant and worked in different roles and companies until I became Finance Manager at Lander in October 2019.”

Tell us about your role?

“I manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams and produce the monthly accounts for Lander. No two days are the same which is good as it mixes it up a bit.”

Can you describe your role in 3 words?

“Busy, Eventful and Challenging”

What does your average day look like?

“I am very much a planner; I like to be organised and know what I am doing but there is an element that you just cannot plan and a lot of things can be out of your control. It is just a matter of dealing with what you can and then trying to leave the rest of the day to do your planned work to meet the deadlines.”

What do you enjoy most about your job?

“People, I have got a very good solid team who help t make my life easier. I also really enjoy my role because it is very different all the time, you don’t get bored.”

What did you want to be when you were a child?

“I always wanted to be a hairdresser, I used to love styling the hair on my dolls. I do want to pick it up eventually when I get time. I had always loved maths and followed that path into accountancy instead.”

Where would you go on your dream holiday?

“I would love to do a round the world cruise, seeing lots of new places that you would never be able to see in your life. I would also love to do a tour round Australia, I love travelling and that’s on the bucket list too.”

What do you like to do to unwind?

“I do quite a bit of exercise, I love to do different challenges, I am currently training for my first mini-triathlon in a couple of weeks’ time. I like going out with my family and friends for meals and days out, my son is four now so he keeps me busy, he really loves it when we go out on a family bike ride.”
