Our History
With over 140 years of history and experience since William Lander started manufacturing household wire formed goods in his attic back in 1881, the company has grown and transformed beyond his dreams through evolution and acquisition to become the group we are today.

1881
William Lander started wire forming business in his Birmingham attic manufacturing products such as bread trays and toast racks

1930’s
Business expansion resulted in a move to larger premises in Digbeth, Birmingham

1951
W Lander & Sons became a limited company focusing primarily on the growing British automotive market

1960’s
Secured business manufacturing door lock linkages and under bonnet parts

1980’s
Started supplying Fuel Filler pipes to OEM customers. Secured further contracts for supply of Coolant pipes / Gear Selector Tubes / Clutch Shafts and Cross Car Beams

1991
Moved to new purpose built company owned facility on Woodgate Business Park, west Birmingham

1998
Lander Carlisle joint venture was formed between Lander Plastics and American company Carlisle Engineered Products – a subsidiary of Fortune 500 company Carlisle Companies Inc.

2000
Growth continued with procurement of businesses in Hungary and Germany to move into seat mechanism commodity.

2001
Started supplying seat frames to major first tier customers

2005
Purchased Shalibane Engineering to expand Fluid transfer portfolio

2007
Sold Hungary and Germany facilities to concentrate on core commodities of fluid transfer pipes and structural products

2012
Secured major engine projects supplying Coolant and Heater Rail Assemblies, Turbo Feed pipes, Turbo Drain Pipes and Dipstick Tube Assemblies

2015
Lander Management team participated in High Performance Working program

2015
A Lander Technician won most improved student on the Jaguar Land Rover Maintenance program which contributed to them winning the Semta Skills Innovation award

2016
Commenced Manufacturing Apprentice scheme to develop the workforce of the future

Won the Skills Forum Award

Won the Manufacturer Magazine MX award for Supply Chain Excellence

Won the Semta SME Investment in Skills Award

GIL Investments takes ownership of Lander Group

Acquisition of Maxpower and Malvern Tubular Components brands from Tricorn UK

Winner of 3 TMMX Awards including “Manufacturer of the year

Acquisition of Franklin and Rabun Gap plants from Tricorn USA
